Nate Says: Sadie and I built this entire section over Thanksgiving Break in 2005. Both of us spent at least 5 hours per day on this section using a rake and shovel and my 3.5 inch Gerber to hack away trees that were in the way. With no plan in mind other than simply the next corner or the next 10 feet, we made a supprising fast and flowing trail. Tanabe, the original trail builder ended up liking it more than his own trail. Also included in this area is the famous jump that we built that the university made us take down. We'll have that section up in a little while. Joel Says: Nate and Sadie's extension. A portion of the trail that did not originally exist, but was brainstormed by these two and turned out to be one of the best sections of the whole trail. I remember when they it built during Thanksgiving of 2005, and how excited they were. I didn't really know what to expect, although I had an idea since I helped Nate scout the area initially, but the final product blew me away. It flowed! It was fast and smooth and man could you really have fun on it. Out of all the sections, this is the one I would have the hardest time keeping up with Nate. Of course I could just say that he was so fast because he built it to suit his style, but that would be an excuse on my behalf! Any way you look at it, the extended section of the UH trail is super fun, and when the sun beams cast down through the thick upper canopy its even beautiful. |
