Green in the... face
The great thing about writing on social topics is that its an easy thing to do. To spout off thoughts about say, coffee enemas, you don't actually have to know anything, you just have to have an opinion. And don't we all have those. This is the real problem with blogs is that they are nearly all about easy subjects - hot air topics if you will. Its the prefered venue of blowhards for sure, I should know. I visit occasionally.
There is a good reason there aren't many science blogs. We don't all have the minds or degrees of P.Z Meyers or Phil Plait. Science is hard; it requires evidence which requires facts, which in turn require experiment and verifiability. However if you want to blow off steam about politics or my favorite barf-bag topic (being "green") you barely need to grasp the language.
